<Poem>
<End Poem>
<Translation>
Beyond the Stream we merely hear
   Another ninefold world may be.
But ere that life can be divined,
   THIS life below away will flee.

In loneness still he heard his guards
   Call down the watches of the night.
Aye heard the red-capped watchmen, till
   The dial's arrow warned the light.

Where on that 7th eve she smiled
   To see her Taurus to her drawn,
To-day she wakes to find encamped
   Six armies joined to threat her morn.

Oh! thou that reigned for fifty years,
   How is it thou could'st not attain
The peace allotted humbler homes,
   And safe thy love with thee retain?
